Describe the bug
Prior to 0.21, if you uninstalled a mod, and then reinstalled it (all through the app) it was like a normal download (ie. from curseforge), the app was "new" and had the appropriate time/date associated to it and thus would get filtered correctly via Sort-By-Newest option in the Instance's mod display window.
Now, because the app caches mods/rp/sp etc in its separate store folder, when you uninstall a mod it is still soft-installed in there and reinstalling it (the same version) just pulls the old data and thus doesn't get re-sorted to the top most recent additions.
You can work around this by deleting, 'clean unused' in resource management, and then installing again, or similar procedure, but it's a hassle compared to before's simple delete-then-install to get a fresh file.
There are some mods that I've seen over the years that mention the .jar can get corrupted when X error occurs and to re-install, but that's not my particular use case (yet), mine is that I swapped to Modrinth in order to access:
- Sharing Instances 1:1 updated to all of my changes to my friends, without having to give them a google drive link to one I uploaded, and then telling them to make manual changes here and there as we play
- To make use of the easy Disabling, Update Notification (without needing a mod & logging on boot), and Sorting features.
Both of these are/were very useful for making a modpack because keeping track of recent changes, updates, and the exact order things were done was very easy.
