zig fetch vs fork of ffmpeg

Wouldn't it be better to use zig fetch to get ffmpeg as a depenency instead of forking the project?

these have been merged upstream but not released yet

Should I create a pr where it points to the merged upstream patches? After the release I can update the pr so that it points at the release version.
